Freelance 2000 was developed by the Hartmann & Braun company, which has over 100 years experience in the field of industrial automation. Recently it was engrossed by Baily Controls, which is control systems department of Elsag Bailey, and then purchased by ABB.
Freelance 2000 controllers line was started in 1993. From this time over 14000 systems were installed in different industries.
Controllers are useful in: power plants, light industry, water solutions e.t.c. Preferably they are used in small and medium control systems i.e. from 4160 digital IO and up to 2080 analog IO for an one installation.
ABB has ISO 9001 certificate for the Freelance controllers.
Freelance has open architecture due to the ethernet technology (base for control network) and Windows OS for an operator and engineering stations. Controllers can handle Modbus, Hart and Profibus networks too. The integration of existing automation systems is facilitated through usage of international standards - from field sensors up to the management level.
